Lectures

Here is a list of lectures at the Alpine Club. Select additional pages using the numbers at the bottom.

The lectures provide a good opportunity for AC members to meet one another and exchange news, views and information. New members and prospective members are particularly welcome. Prospective members are asked to contact the AC office before attending. Lectures generally start at 7:30pm.

For the lectures in London, non-members are asked to register their attendance in advance either by filling in the relevant form on the lecture page or by contacting the office at admin@alpineclub.org (Please note that a donation is requested on entry).

Dogs (except for guide dogs) are not permitted at lectures. Since these events are open to both members and the general public, we need to be mindful of potential allergies or phobias that attendees may have.

Anyone who has had an interesting trip and would be prepared to lecture is invited to contact the AC Office or the lecture organisers.

Each event includes a clickable map with the address of the venue.

Inspiring Aspirants - with Barry Speed, Arran Turton-Phillips, Hannah Mitchell and Ross Bell
Thursday 13 March 2025, 07:30pm
Thursday 13 March 2025

This special evening will celebrate the AC Saas Aspirants Meet, now in its 12th year, and the many exciting places it has led for attendees.

On 13 March we are joined at the Skiddaw Hotel, Keswick, by the Saas Aspirants Meet instigator, Barry Speed, along with Aspirants Meet graduates Arran, Hannah and Ross, who will discuss their experiences on the meet and/or where the skills and confidence developed on the meet have taken them since; from Scottish winter climbs to Alpine 4,000ers and the Greater Ranges.

This is a great opportunity for those who are considering attending the Saas Aspirants Meet to find out more about it and for anyone, new member or experienced alpinist, to be inspired by what some of our newest members are getting up to in the mountains. It’s also a great chance for previous meet attendees to get together, reminisce and share ideas with prospective joiners.

Venue: The Greta Suite of the Skiddaw Hotel, Main Street, Keswick, CA12 5BL.

Lectures are free to members. Non-members are welcome to attend for a suggested £3 donation to the Montane Alpine Club Climbing Fund.

Lectures start: 7:30PM.
